We are very proud of our Fire Fighters who were out most of the night during the worst of the storm working to keep roads, notably Interstate 287, clear of the many trees Irene felled. But that was just the beginning. When the rains finally stopped, the pumps started up. For more than 3 days, our members worked day and night pumping out over 100 households, helping the DPW keep local roads clear and working with the power company to help manage the many power line fires around town. Our First Aid Squad also continued to provide emergency care and transportation during the worst of the storm and throughout those long, subsequent and electricity-less days that followed.
Our special thanks to all the soggy, wind blown members who helped our community put Irene in our past!
