On a hot sunny day this past June, local fire companies from three surrounding counties joined us on Sand Spring Lane for the 47th Annual Tri-County Firematics Competition. The games, sponsored by the Tri-County Firematics Association and hosted this year by the NVVFD, foster inter-company comraderie and encourage sharp fire fighting skills.
Teams from each fire company raced through three timed events (single hose, double hose and ladder) simulating common fire fighting activities. Liberty Corner Fire Company took highest honors, with Bernardsville Fire Company and Basking Ridge Fire Company following closely in 2nd and 3rd place. Also showing their mettle were Chatham Borough, Far Hills-Bedminster, Green Village, Martinsville, Peapack-Gladstone, Stirling and of course, our own New Vernon Volunteer Fire Company.
